Building and Maintenance

Building your own home is a task that people undertake every day. Over-seeing the building of your house can be a very stressful experience and this is why you want to take your time and ensure that the contractors you choose are the very best. It only takes 1 bad contractor to blow out the cost and put a whole lot of extra stress on you in completing this project.

Most people choose a Construction company to build thier home for them as it puts the project in the hands of someone with experience and the ability to get the job done. To me, this makes a lot of sense, as putting someone in charge who has built and extended homes means they have the contacts already. The right contacts in any industy make a big difference - just think to your own job.

Regardless of the size of your construction project, from a renovation of a couple of rooms to repairing a storm damaged roof or building your own dream home then getting the experts is easier and can often be cheaper than doing it all yourself. Indy Total Construction provide all of these services and more so why not get a free Estimate.

Sure, you might think at first that it is cheaper to do it yourself, but how about considering the following secnario. Lets just say you want a new Pergola done in your yard. You get a few quotes for all the materials and it might come in at something like $5,000. Then you get a quote and find that it is something like $12,000 and think that your $5K sounds better. Well before you rush off consider ALL the costs.

The materials are only part of it as your time is worth something! Ok, we are going to assume that you are able to do the work yourself and it will take you around 3 weeks. Those 3 weeks means taking 3 weeks off from your current job where you are earning $1000 a week. After a few days you realise that you simply cannot do this by yourself and need to find someone to help. You need to pay another $1000 for the hired help.

After 2 weeks you suddenly realise that you are only about 1/2 way to completing your project and suddenly the costs are starting to mount up. This was something you never saw at the start. Another week off work, and another week of paying someone to help sees your costs go up by another $2K. Finally, after 4 weeks you are almost finished and can go back to work and finish it off on the weekends. Now, it is winter, it is cold so you put off finishing the Pergola until the weather warms up. Once the weather warms up, you put in a few weekends and finally, after 9 months, $5000 in materials, and $6000 in your time and hired help your pergola is finished.

Ok, the truth is I have been there - and just wished I had used what I first thought was an expensive quote! I just ask would it not have been easier and quicker to go with the $12,000 quote you first got?

This is why whenever I think about a DIY project I get someone who is experienced such as Indy Total Construction to give me a quote and get the job done.
